terrifying giallo inspired post rock infused soundtrack, proving how versatile Electric Dragon can be.
Favorite track: Nightmare (Feat. Kriistal Ann).
Something I always wanted to explore was the Italian slasher / giallo movie soundtrack style. It's always been present in my music to some extent... so whilst writing the 'Dark Water' LP, I started working on 'The Night School'.
This was to be a side-project, but in the end I decided to release it as an Electric Dragon album, because it's a more direct interpretation of my influences, than my usual 'darksynth' style.
'The Night School' is a progressive synth-rock/soundtrack album, inspired by the work of Goblin, Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Frizzi, and the films of Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci. Those guys have always been a huge inspiration for my music, and this album is a love letter to all those wonderful Italian horror movies.
It's been very refreshing and inspiring to work with friends Volkor X, who plays all the bass guitar on the album, Nick Pymm (drums), and voices Jessica Pymm (soprano), Kriistal Ann, Becca Starr, actor friend Brendan McCoy (voiceover) and cover artist Jim Gennisson. A huge thank you to all of you - it's been a blast.
I hope you enjoy listening as much as we did creating it.
Stay safe!
- Electric Dragon, April 2020.
P.S. Darksynth fans - you can expect a release later this year, as work is well underway on the next LP - 'Cataclysm'- stay tuned.
